New Mexico Community Foundation has awarded two grants totaling $16,500 to nonprofit organizations serving the northeastern part of the state, specifically communities in San Miguel, Mora, and Harding Counties.
Grant recipients, First Born of Northern NM and NDI-NM Pecos Elementary program, were selected to support programs within the focus areas of Health Awareness and Disease Prevention. This funding was made possible through NMCF’s Northeastern Regional Community Fund, which seeks to improve health and decrease the prevalence of disease in a seven county region of northeastern NM.
Pecos Elementary School 3rd graders perform their NDI finale for classmates and faculty.
From New Mexico’s only statewide community foundation, these funds represent a unique and much needed opportunity to fund organizations in rural parts of the state, especially in historically underserved communities of northeastern New Mexico.
