An ambitious conference on climate change conducted on October 28 by Citizens’ Climate Education-NM (CCE-NM) drew very favorable reviews from approximately 400 participants all over New Mexico. CCE-NM volunteer members made the following possible:

  • Educate New Mexicans on the conclusive evidence supporting humanity’s responsibility for climate change and its devastating impacts,
  • Offer participants a range of options to help reverse global warming, and
  • Allow various groups working to control climate change to meet and coordinate with each other.

The first half of the conference was streamed online to sites in Santa Fe, Albuquerque, Las Cruces and Taos. The presentations transmitted to all four sites included a keynote presentation by former Congresswoman and renewable energy consultant Claudine Schneider. The afternoon comprised eight breakout sessions identifying necessary government policies and actions that individuals, communities, businesses, and agriculture can take. CCE-NM was especially excited to include youth in Santa Fe by encouraging them to work on issues related to climate change.
