New Mexico Foundation for Literary Arts, a NMCF fiscally sponsored program that raises awareness about books, reading, and writing in New Mexico, is raising money to launch The Albuquerque Student Writers Institute, an innovative afterschool program for Albuquerque Public School students. The Institute will nurture technical writing, professional writing, and creative writing ability across a variety of media.

Only half of all Albuquerque Public School students are graduating with the ability to write at grade level, meaning those without this vital skill are at a disadvantage in the job market. The technical writing track will support existing efforts to inspire students towards STEM careers, while the professional writing track will focus on new media and digital writing platforms. The creative track seeks to inspire great storytelling for the page and screen. You can support this initiative by donating here.

NMCF’s fiscal sponsorship program makes it possible for community projects without 501c3 status to use NMCF’s nonprofit umbrella to raise funds for a charitable purpose. Click here for more information.
