Building on the New Mexico Community Foundation’s history of supporting

places and people throughout New Mexico, we provide grants to community partners. In line with our vision and values, we have established three new funding priorities to guide our work.

Grant cycle opens in 2027.

Thriving Rural

Through Thriving Rural, we seek to support and invest in upstream projects and planning efforts that strengthen rural places and enable people to thrive on their own terms. To focus our investments, the Foundation will prioritize community-driven initiatives within the following focus areas:

  • Healthy Food Access
  • Physical Activity
  • Social Connections
  • Local Livability

Rural New Mexico faces a range of challenges that shape quality of life and long-term livability. As a small, statewide community foundation, we are dedicated to supporting locally led efforts that improve quality of life in rural New Mexico, guided by the priorities and voices of those who call these communities home.

Thriving Environments

Through Thriving Environments, we seek to support and invest in the livability and natural conditions that allow people, animals, and plants to thrive. New Mexico’s diverse ecosystems are deeply interconnected and interdependent, requiring thoughtful stewardship and a strong understanding of their complexity.

To focus our investments and support, the Foundation will
prioritize local eco-regeneration efforts that steward and care
for our delicate natural ecology within the following focus areas:

  • Local Food Systems
  • Small Freshwater Ecosystems
  • Local Land Regeneration
  • Outdoor Recreation Access

Thriving Indigenous

Through Thriving Indigenous, we support Indigenous-led efforts that enable tribes, pueblos, and communities to thrive on their own terms. To guide our investments and support, the Foundation will
prioritize the following focus areas:

  • Local Food Systems
  • Water Is Life
  • Family Self-Determination & Well-Being
  • Native Entrepreneurship

The goal of Thriving Indigenous is to directly support local, Native-led projects and plans that reflect the priorities and aspirations of their community. We stand with Indigenous-led movements and invest in local, Indigenous-led solutions.
