A fiscal sponsorship arrangement offers a way for an organization or cause to have an administrative “home” and attract donors whether or not the cause is recognized as tax-exempt under Internal Revenue Code Section 501c3. Donors donate to NMCF (aka: the Fiscal Sponsor). NMCF then regrants these as restricted charitable gifts to the Fiscally Sponsored Organizations.
Some of our functions on behalf of the sponsored organization or cause include:
- Performing administrative functions like taking on the responsibility of receiving and administering charitable contributions on behalf of the sponsored organization.
- Performing back-office functions.
- Providing fiduciary oversight, financial management, and other administrative services to help build the capacity of charitable projects.
The foundation’s standard fee for these services is 10% of incoming donations. NMCF requires its fiscal sponsors to be separate legal entities, to have an FEIN, and to have general liability insurance.
Applying for fiscal sponsorship begins by submitting a letter of inquiry. Please ensure your project has a charitable purpose and aligns with the foundation’s mission.
