The Greater Chaco landscape is one of the world’s most significant cultural and spiritual places—a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the ancestral homeland of Indigenous peoples, whose connection to this landscape continues today. The New Mexico Community Foundation stands with Tribal Nations and communities calling for the protection of Chaco Canyon and the surrounding landscape. Once […]
Growing up in rural New Mexico taught Madison Kenyon the importance of responsibility, resilience, and service to community. Across rural New Mexico, community well-being often begins with practical, visible work: clearing debris, improving safety, restoring shared spaces, and helping neighbors feel proud of the places they call home. EnviroTrash, a new fiscally sponsored project of New Mexico Community Foundation (NMCF), is bringing that spirit to Cibola County and parts of McKinley County through […]
What guides our work at the New Mexico Community Foundation is that the people closest to the challenges are also closest to the solutions. Across rural towns, mountain villages, acequia associations, nonprofit offices, kitchen tables, classrooms, and community gathering places, New Mexicans are building the future they want for the places they call home. I recently celebrated my 10-year anniversary at New Mexico Community Foundation. It is because of this work that I’ve had the honor of getting to know so many communities throughout our beautiful state. One of the things I’ve valued about this foundation is its commitment to support and grant to rural areas. I’m proud to say that in 2025, NMCF disbursed […]

It is a responsibility I embrace with great care, recognizing the many factors that must be thoughtfully […]
